We have been life long dog owners and have kept
and bred multi purpose Flatcoated Retrievers since 1990. We Decided
to become more involved in the breed, and picked up
the Blackstone prefix in 1993. We have continued to be heavily
involved in the breed at both the regional and national levels.
Andrea has been the NW Rescue Coordinator and Seattle Purebred
Dog Rescue liaison since 1992 and was a founding member of the
current day NWFCRC, serving on the Board in varying capacities,
including 3 terms as President. |

We are involved in most aspects of the breed and would be
pleased to help you with information, referrals and guidance.
We strive to be prompt with correspondence, but we lead very active lives, filled with both dog and family
activities and sometimes we are not as prompt as we would like to be.

We are proud to be able to provide this
site as a resource to the Breeders, Owners and Enthusiasts of the Flat Coated Retriever. This site is not just about Blackstone Kennels. It speaks of our own personal involvement in the breed, in
that we continually use every available resource within our means to work towards the continued advancement of the breed. Like the plans we have for this site, it is a never ending process to improve
our understanding and increase our knowledge of this incredible animal.

Our
founding dog was AM CH Adelhard’s
Rated Rookie CD CGC, who was 6 months old when we acquired him.
The weekend after Rookie came home Andrea was at her first
dog show, as a spectator, with him in tow. By the end of that month
she participated in her very first dog show with Rookie
getting a Best Puppy in Breed. The following year Rebel, AM CH
Adelhard’s Unruly Rebel came home at Christmas time as a 9 month old
bitch. Rebel’s first few shows earned both her majors and BOW &
BOS wins over Top 10 Specials in the breed. Francie, Adelhard Blackstone X’ Cuse Moi
was our very first FCR puppy to come home at 8 weeks of age. An
absolutely beautiful girl that has a stubborn streak a mile wide!
She is the only dog that we have kept that never completed a show
championship or any other title for that matter. Not being ones to
drag a dog around the ring, Francie got to stay home, have 2 litters
and has now deemed herself the guardian of our 2 legged children.
Francie’s litters produced many multiple titled dogs in field, show
and obedience and has continued through to her grandchildren. Am CH Darktarn Adelhard Dymond Lil CD
CGC came to us at 4 months of age and she is one
of Andrea's all time favorite FCR’s! Lilly is one of those
wickedly fiendish dogs that will do anything you ask… her way! She
has truly made us better trainers in many ways! Lilly had
one puppy and had to be spayed on the spot after an emergency
c-section. Her singleton pup Addie was then destined to stay with us
and so far has become, Am/Can/Int CH
Blackstone’s Twist of Fate JH WC CGC. Am/Can/Int CH Flatford Adelhard Major
Savy was the last of the foundation stock and came to us in 1993 at the
age of 9 months. She is from the very well known “Major” litter.
All of our animals currently in the database.
